To add tension to the scene, we decided to record foley sounds for the first shots. With the background being completely silent (could try with no room tone), the foley sound would be heightened to cause discomfort and make the audience focus on every movements of the character.

Here is the list of foley sounds we had to record (we tried to record foley sounds instead of finding existing audios on the internet to make sure it matches to the scene best):

  • Sound of fabrics rubbing: for when the character is moving on the bed (rubbing bedsheet) - Recorded by Chau Anh

  • Sound of the alarm clock + hitting an object on a wooden surface: for the first shot when the character is turning of the alarm: Recorded by Hanh Linh

  • Sound of hands rubbing and heavy breathing: For when the character is panicking - Recorded by Minh An and My Linh

  • Sound of paper rubbing wooden table: For when the character is trying to erase evidence - Recorded by My Linh

  • Sound of phone notification: Recorded by My Linh

I think theses foley sounds really helped elevate suspense and make the scene seem closer to reality!
